About

Cloyd F. Van Hook was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana.  He earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Tech and is a die hard Ramblin Wreck.  He worked in the aerospace industry  before entering the Air Force in 1969.  While on active duty in the Air Force he earned an MBA from Florida State University.  Following release from active duty he joined the Louisiana Air National Guard and was commander of the 214th Engineering Installation Squadron before retiring with the rank of colonel.

 

Cloyd worked in the petrochemical industry as an engineer for approximately twenty years and is a registered Professional Engineer in Louisiana.  While working for a major oil company he earned his law degree from Loyola University in New Orleans.

 

Following graduation from law school he earned a Master of Laws in taxation from the University of Houston and has been a practicing tax attorney for the past thirteen years.  He is a board certified tax specialist.

 

Cloyd is an avid aviator and flies his own 1963 Beechcraft Musketeer.  In 2004 he founded the Beech Aero Club which is the type club for the Musketeer line of aircraft and has over 600 members worldwide.

 

In his younger days Cloyd was a dedicated runner having competed in many local races including the initial Crescent City Classic and he completed three marathons.  He also enjoyed sailing and racing his Morgan 22, Kangaroo and later his Ranger 26, Kimo Sabe.
